Chinese President Xi Jin Ping visits Vietnam

Summary:

Chinese President Xi Jin Ping made an official state visit to Vietnam. During his visit, Vietnam and China issued a Joint Statement, which proposes to strengthen the bilateral relationship, jointly monitor and resolve conflicts in disputed waters and prevent conflicts from affecting the relationship between the two countries.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also proposed three main directions to strengthen the relationship between the two countries in the future. First, Vietnam and China should maintain a high-level dialog to strengthen political trust between the two governments and create effective platforms for promoting mutual understanding between their citizens. Second, the two countries should promote effective economic and business collaboration for balanced and stable benefits to both sides. Third, the two governments should closely and effectively monitor conflicts, maintain peace and stability in the East Sea (South China Sea), preventing this issue from affecting bilateral relations.
