“I am particularly interested in the Midwestern region of the United States, where I was born. I want to establish a Vietnamese Trade and Investment Promotion Center here, in cities like Detroit and Chicago. The reason is because Detroit is the center of the US automation industry, where they are still producing and developing technology, using artificial intelligence (AI) in manufacturing. The Midwest is also the food distribution center of the United States, while Vietnam is a strong country in food production. Therefore, if Vietnam wants to distribute more food to the US, the Midwest is the destination to aim for. The Chinese have recognized this for a long time and they are investing heavily in the US, especially buying a lot of agricultural land here. I think Vietnamese people should also start investing in agricultural land in this area.
I always believe that trade must be a two-way street, not a one-way street. Investment and trade should develop in both directions, and Vietnam needs to move to a new level.
The Midwestern region of the United States has great advantages. Within a 5-hour drive from Detroit, you can access 40% of America’s GDP. This is a huge number. To the East, you can go to Toronto (Canada); to the West is Chicago; and to the South is Pittsburgh, Ohio. This location is very special, and I would like to see more Vietnamese companies invest in this area.
This is something I can help with. The Midwest also has many leading universities, research institutes, and healthcare organizations. These are important areas that I think Vietnamese entrepreneurs should be interested in, including healthcare, education and sustainable technology.” – According to Mr. Bradley Lalonde sharing on VIR.
